WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I use some of the best professional Canon DSLR cameras and lenses and always bring backup equipment. If you’re a gear geek, here’s my current list –
Canon 5D Mark III
Canon 5D Mark II
Alien Bees (400 & 800)
Canon 70-200mm II f/2.8 L
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L
Canon 85mm f/1.8 L
Canon 50mm f/1.4 L
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L
WHAT DO YOU WEAR?
I try my best to blend in but I do a lot of kneeling and climbing so dresses are out for me. Mostly black and darker clothes like dress pants and a blouse along with cute but comfy shoes.
DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL OR MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?
Every wedding day is unique and some have more locations than others so I don’t charge travel for multiple locations. If your wedding is more than 40 miles from Newport News, VA (or north of Richmond and south of Virginia Beach) then travel fees may apply but are evaluated on a case by case basis. I have experience traveling and photograph destination weddings as well.
HOW MANY PICTURES DO YOU TAKE?
Thousands! I want to catch that perfect moment so I don’t limit myself, and thanks to digital I don’t have to. I do you the favor of taking the time to edit out the blinks, test shots, duplicates and the like and you end up with around 75-100 keepers per hour (more when there’s two of us). All the pictures I give you and post online are edited for color, exposure, sharpness and white balance and special effect filters and B&W are done free of charge 😉
HOW DO WE BOOK YOU AND WHAT’S YOUR PAYMENT PLAN?
To reserve me for your wedding date I require a $1,500 deposit and contract. The balance is due around the time the rest of your wedding vendor balances are due, 28 days before the wedding. You’re able to make your own payment plan between booking and balance due and I can keep track of it and send out reminders if you wish. I also accept checks and all major credit cards.
WHEN WILL WE GET OUR PICTURES?
I’m proud to have one of the fastest turn-around times in the wedding industry with ALL edited photos posted online 4-5 weeks after your wedding and the majority of my couples have their wedding album within 6 months. And I’ve even been know to show a few sneak peak images on Facebook, my blog, and Instagram before that 4 week mark too!
WE LOVE YOU, BUT WILL WE LOVE YOUR 2ND PHOTOGRAPHER?
You will! All of the 2nd photographers I work with have been working professionals for years and many of them have their own wedding photographer business. To be a 2nd shooter for me, all my photographers must have at least 5 years of professional experience and/or 5 years of experience working for newspapers so they have a similar journalism style and I know I can trust them to uphold the same quality of work that you expect and the type of friendliness & professionalism you’d want around you.
I’VE SEEN YOUR PICTURES FROM SEVERAL WEDDINGS, BUT CAN I SEE A WHOLE WEDDING FROM START TO FINISH?
YES! I think this is very important when considering different photographers so you can get a feel of how I approach the whole day. Wedding photographers need to work fast and be able to photograph in every circumstance possible and I pride myself in being able to do just that so even if I haven’t been to your venue I can share an example with similar lighting and backgrounds. I value my clients privacy so I don’t have those links public but several have agreed to share their photos with other couples so just ask and I’m happy to send you a few links, along with a few references if you want those too.
I DON’T WANT TO SPEND AN HOUR TAKING FAMILY PHOTOS, DO I HAVE TO?
Nope. In fact, because of how efficiently I work on the wedding day (with help from one of my high school interns/ light assistants) and the guidance I give you with my family picture checklist, most family photo sessions on a wedding day are complete within 20-25 minutes.
DO YOU HAVE LIABILITY INSURANCE?
Absolutely (and a business license too) and I’m happy to provide any venue with proof of coverage.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE OUR WEDDING DAY?
We support our military families and know life can be unpredictable sometimes. So while the deposit is nonrefundable, it can be reapplied up to a year later (or applied towards a portrait session), subject to availability of course.
