Courtney and Jason were married on October 6th, with a ceremony at Cedar Grove in Mathews, Virginia, and preparations & reception at the Inn at Tabbs Creek.
Everything about this wedding was gorgeous. My second shooter, Buddy, and I were truly spoiled as wedding photographers with these gorgeous outdoor venues and would LOVE to photograph Inn at Tabbs Creek weddings every year!
Courtney was absolutely stunning in her beaded lace gown from Urban Set Bride. It caught the sunlight and sparkled, just like the light off the water. At moments, when she turned, she would actually glitter. She was exquisite, especially when paired with her (equally sparkly) Badgley Mischa shoes!
Courtney and Jason’s Inn at Tabbs Creek Wedding | Mathews Wedding Photography
Courtney and Jason had a first look together on the pier at the Inn at Tabb’s Creek. The smile of delight on Jason’s face was truly priceless. Moments like this make me love being a wedding photographer!
Once everyone was ready, we left the cottages at the Inn for Cedar Grove for their river ceremony. Weeks before the ceremony, the bride begged a neighbor to move his boat so that it wouldn’t be right behind the altar. And he did move it… about 50 yards. Ah well—these two still looked absolutely amazing in their sun-drenched ceremony. And so did the décor! Emily Caliway, the wedding coordinator, did an amazing job hanging the bride’s hand-made floral design for the altar.
Right after the ceremony, Courtney and Jason left with me and a bottle of champagne in a boat for a leisurely ride back to the inn. I think Courtney enjoyed that, too, because she mentioned it in her review after the wedding:
“Heather was so amazing! We could not have had a better experience. She’s been so thoughtful throughout the entire process! She even rode on the boat with us that we hired to take us from the ceremony to our reception! On a scale of 1-10, I would give her 1,000! Thank you for everything, Heather!”
Inn at Tabbs Creek Wedding Reception
The reception at the Inn at Tabbs Creek was fun for everyone. Not only was there laid back games of corn hole, but there was a fire and s’mores bar along with a pretzel bar for the guests to enjoy. There was also a beautiful sunset—so I had to steal Courtney and Jason away for some sunset pictures on the pier! And then there was the father/daughter dance. Tears turned to smiles & laughter when Courtney and her father did a tequila shot together in the middle of their dance!
I love when my brides break the norm!
Jason & Courtney, thank you for asking me to be part of your beautiful rustic wedding. I know you two will continue to show the world how to have fun!
