3 Tips for Better Proposal Photos

Better Proposal Photos

The day of your marriage proposal will live in your hearts & minds forever.

How you felt, what you did, the sounds, and of course where you were.

I still remember the moment my husband popped the question, and I don’t have any professional proposal photos – but I DO have a selfie I took just moments before that I still love looking at. I love seeing that look in his eyes – now knowing what came immediately after.

Here is another story straight from the bride-to-be pictured above written after our session and the big moment:

During our session, we are standing under a beautiful tree. Dalton looks at me and asks “Do you still want to marry me someday?” I said “Yes of course…” He pulls me in closer and says “Are you sure? No takesy backsies”

He gets on one knee… “Isabel… Will you marry?”

Turns out he was talking to our photographer, Heather Hughes, without me knowing and they had the whole thing set up. They even had a code word!

Isabel A.

Not everyone thinks to have a professional photographer capture the moment, it’s a tricky thing to surprise someone and plan a photo session at the same time. Or maybe you’ve thought about asking a friend to help, but would prefer to get better proposal photos – shot by a professional.

Not to worry – I am here to help!

3 Tips for Better Proposal Photos

  1. Plan WITH your photographer
(we know the best spots, time of day, etc. and can even help with a cover story)
  2. Dress NICE
(you can use the excuse of going to a nice dinner or another special occasion)
  3. Have a CODE WORD
(you want your photographer ready, not changing batteries when you take a knee, so a code word helps make sure you’re both ready)

Of course, spontaneous proposals are fun too so if it would make you a little too nervous to have a camera around you can go the paparazzi route and have your photographer hide in the trees or be a “tourist” nearby.

Hope these tips help calm some nerves and make it easier to plan your special moment – cheers to all the happy couples starting their lives together!
