David and Emily were married in a small intimate backyard wedding ceremony followed by a family dinner at Trellis in Colonial Williamsburg. It was such a pleasure to be the wedding photographer for this special day full of love.
Backyard Wedding Photography
There’s something so special about a small, intimate backyard wedding. So when Emily’s mother, Robin reached out to me about photographing her daughter’s wedding, I was overjoyed to be a part of this special day. Emily wanted something simple, but her mom knew the importance of capturing the fleeting moments of a wedding day. She wanted to make sure Emily had professional wedding photos that everyone could enjoy for years to come.
Since Emily lived out of state, I met with her parents, Robin and John, and we all did a lot of work over the phone. Since the wedding would be held at their home, Robin and John put an amazing amount of work into landscaping their yard and readying their property for the big event. From the stunning floral gardens to the fake grass runner for the shadier side of the house, not a single detail was overlooked. When the day of the wedding arrived, the ceremony under the redbud tree was simply perfect.
On the day of the wedding, it was so special for Emily to get ready in her childhood bedroom. The room still had some of the treasures from her childhood! It’s so special to get married at the home where you grew up. There are so many memories… especially for John and Robin! Plus, I loved getting the bride and groom in the hammock for a couple of fun and less traditional wedding portraits.
Colonial Williamsburg Wedding Photography
After the backyard ceremony in John and Robin’s backyard, there was an intimate dinner reception in a private room at The Trellis in Colonial Williamsburg. Dave and Emily spent their honeymoon in a suite at the Williamsburg Inn. So, we ended the night with a couple of portraits outside the Inn as the day gave way to night.
With only twelve of their closest family members in attendance, Emily and David’s event was truly an intimate summer wedding. It was a warm and cloudy day, and as it turned out, the only rain all day was after the portraits when we were driving on the Colonial Parkway. Then, the rain stopped in time for us to stop to do a few more wedding portraits!
