Chrysler Museum Wedding

Right after Thanksgiving, I had an amazing time photographing Beth and Andrew’s elegant fall wedding in Norfolk, VA with a ceremony at Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center and a reception at the Chrysler Museum of Art. It was such a blast being their wedding photographer and being there as these two entered this new chapter of their lives!

Rain changed our portrait plans that day from the balcony to the walkway at the Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center but that didn’t dampen anyone’s’ spirits. This was a great group of people and they were all having a fantastic time together. Beth is a veterinarian and Andrew is a Navy pilot, so of course he wore a Jolly Roger pirate flag on his cummerbund and Beth looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown.

The Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center boasts a gorgeous ceremony hall. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows and the chandelier overhead gave a sense of class and elegance. It served as the perfect setting for Beth and Andrew to walk down the aisle.

Both Beth and Andrew exchanged heartfelt letters before the ceremony and you could really feel the love they had for each other. And Andrew absolutely loves his nieces – so much that we almost had to design a separate album with just their photos in it! The adorable flower girls had a bit of a hard time getting down the aisle as the ceremony began. One of them just couldn’t do it. But, the ceremony went ahead as planned and it couldn’t have been any more perfect.

Even with a little transportation delay, we had time for a few great night photos at the Chrysler Museum of Art, including some fantastic shots in my favorite tapestry gallery! They didn’t need a lot of help from me to plan, and with Astro coordinator Pari and her staff on hand, the day ran so smoothly we finished the pre-wedding portraits early.

About half of my couples take dance lessons for their first dance, and I’ve seen some very elegant displays. But Beth and Andrew truly shined on the floor and all their moves looked so easy and natural. You would’ve thought they were professional dancers! With just five lessons, along with a little extra practice, their first dance was perfect. But, the night was just getting started. Soon glow necklaces, rings, glasses, and batons were helping to light up the LED dance floor and the party really started to get underway.

Beth has a sweet tooth that would challenge even my own, so the candy bar she was snacking on at the reception was to die for! Andrew doesn’t drink but you could never tell as he was on the dance floor almost all night! Paper airplanes were thrown for the couple’s exit with a few hitting Andrew, but both made it through mostly unharmed.

All in all, what an amazing day! To both Beth and Andrew, I’d like to extend my most sincere thanks for letting me be a part of your beautiful Chrysler Museum wedding. I had such a great time as your wedding photographer and I just know you guys are going to have an incredibly happy and fulfilling life together. Cheers, you two.
