Senior year is such an exciting time. And I love to photograph senior portrait sessions in and around Coastal Virginia. In May, I met up with high school senior, Savanah and her mother at my booth at the Birth & Baby Fair in the Pembroke Mall. When she saw a few senior photos on display, Savanah rushed to catch her mom, Jennifer, so they could book me THAT NEXT WEEK to have photos in time for graduation.
And I’m so glad they did – despite the rush, they turned out great!
Senior Portrait Session
Savanah has been playing field hockey for years. She is such a serious player that she came straight from field hockey practice to her photography session!
Fort Monroe in Hampton is a wonderful place to visit and an awesome backdrop for portrait photography. There are beautiful nature trails and beaches along the Bay. Plus, with the numerous historical buildings, there were tons of options to add variety to her 2 hour session.
With very little time to prepare, Savanah did a great job following my outfit suggestions and brought half her closet for us to choose from. We got a TON of gorgeous images during her 2-hour senior portrait session. Plus, because of her passion for the sport, I requested her field hockey stick for a few sports portraits. She looks just like one of the All-Stars I used to photograph for the newspaper!
For this senior portrait session, I had help from my assistant Lazuli, who is a recent high school graduate herself. She helped me create the perfect lighting in windy conditions and was such a trooper to climb up hills and wander all over Fort Monroe with us. I will certainly miss Lazuli when she leaves for UVA in the fall.
