HHP Experience

As you probably already know, getting along with your photographer is just as important as loving their photos. And maybe even more so.

Photos evoke memories of a moment in time. The events before and after the picture was taken are part of that memory, as well as the experience you had with your photographer who took the photos.

“If you hire a $500 photographer, it will look like you had a $500 budget. BUT if you hire a $5000 photographer it will look like you had a $50,000 budget.” – The Knot

Of course, the reason behind that is that pros like myself not only have the experience to make you look your best, and create or find the best light, but also have the experience to know how to handle any situation thrown at us.

As much as I love real moments – I also know you want to look great in your photos – so that is always my top priority (while still including the one of that random guy that photo bombed us ;). That is how the HHP Experience is all about YOU and YOUR experience.

The HHP Wedding Experience

Getting married is one of the biggest days of your life, and I am honored that you are considering me to capture the moments & memories on your special day and I want to do more than the average photographer to make the whole experience even more memorable. You are the most important person that day and the experiences and moments that happen on and around you on that day are my top priority.

Tell me your story!

How you met, the interests you share, why you chose your wedding date and location. Knowing these details also helps me better tell your story so I can be looking for things on the wedding day that tie in and ideas we can incorporate into your portraits.

Let’s make everything EASIER for you!

You’re the top priority, so whether you would like to meet at Panera, a venue, or even do a Skype call, the easier for you the better. I know wedding planning can take a lot of time, even with a wedding planner, so I am flexible and work with your schedule.

I want nothing more than to HELP you!

When we meet you will be presented with a helpful guide, with a portrait checklist, timeline worksheet, and a few other helpful tools to help your wedding run more smoothly.  Every couple receives a special welcome gift after booking with me and I remain in contact throughout the process with advice and helpful guides so by the wedding day you feel prepared and relaxed about having your picture taken (even for the most photo shy).

My Guide has more about the day of experience, and what to expect after the wedding too. So if you are interested, please fill out my contact form, check the box for “Tips & Special Offers,” or simply click  HERE to get my Photographer’s Guide to a Picture-Perfect Wedding Day.

Check out my recent wedding stories to see how I use sophisticated composition, light, and romantic and lifestyle photography to create unique pictures of this important milestone so you will have the treasured memories to share & re-live for generations.

The Portrait Experience

Time flies. Whether you’re engaged, expecting your first child, or a family of five, this moment will be gone too fast.

And I know this too well, about to celebrate my son’s 5th birthday and we STILL don’t have a nice family portrait to hang on the wall (and my husband is a professional photographer too)! But this is mostly because we don’t want a cheesy mall photo of us with an outdated backdrop. We want laughter, outdoors, fun!!! All tough to do as a selfie or even with a self timer.

I have been doing portraits since my days as a newspaper photographer and spent the last couple of years investing even more into my skills, so now the experience with me is even better. I have a faster turnaround – proofs online within 3 days or the SAME day – and gorgeous Fine Art prints that you will love displaying on your walls to enjoy for generations.

Engagement & Bridal Sessions

Share your story!

How you met, the interests you share, why you chose your wedding date and location, why you LOVE your dress. Knowing details about you, your family, and your friends helps me better tell your story and tie in personal details into your portraits – as well as make location suggestions. family-photographer

Leading up to the session I make any necessary access arrangements and am happy to send you my new What to Wear Guide if you are looking for additional tips & suggestions.

The day of the session I like to have an assistant or intern to help carry lights for me, a sheet to keep your dress clean, or your bag with a change of clothes. This way we can relax and focus on having fun, getting great backgrounds, laugh, a little PDA ;), and have fun walking, climbing trees, and do a few sitting & smiling for the camera (so mom is happy too).

Newborn & Family Sessions

Let’s make things EASIER for you!

You’re the top priority, so whether you would like to meet at Panera, your home, or even do a Skype call, the easier for you the better. I want to learn about you, your family, and what you want to get from your photo session so I can make suggestions and direct the flow in the way that works best for everyone. You have your hands full getting ready for your baby, or caring for your family, so I am flexible and happy to meet before or after the session when you have a few minutes to see the gorgeous Fine Art quality I am proud to offer.

Leading up to a family session I make necessary arrangements, send you a few helpful tips, and the day of the session I like to have an assistant to help carry lights, blow bubbles, make silly faces, anything we need to keep it fun. And for families, I try to get lots of laughter and natural moments along with a couple “smiling at the camera.”

For my newborn sessions, I set up a mini studio in your home (where possible) to get the adorable prop photos with my basket, wraps, or family heirlooms along with natural moments in the nursery or around the home. I only need a 6×8 foot space cleared for my set up and typically set up in the living room or bedroom. These in-home sessions are great because you have everything you could need or want at your fingertips and the only thing you have to do to prepare is make the house warm enough for a few naked baby pictures, I handle the rest!
