Kelly and Kevin were married in a beautiful a ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Newport News filled with warmth and elegance and it was such a pleasure to be their wedding photographer.
Kelly & Kevin’s Elegant Newport News Wedding
Kelly and Kevin met through the popular dating site, Tinder. Their very first date lasted 7 hours! Clearly, it was love at first sight. And that love was so visible when I met up with them on the morning of their wedding day. Their July wedding was on the HOTTEST day all summer. The heat index was up at around 110, so we kept the portraits indoors and in shady areas as much as possible. While that meant adjusting our plans a little, everything went perfectly. From the first look with her dad that brought tears to my eyes to the first “fake-look” when Kelly and Kevin held hands around the door to the chapel, the morning was filled with beautiful, heartwarming moments.
Things went even better than we planned for most of the day & the bridesmaids were hilarious! They really set the tone for a perfect day. When we were taking photos in the bride’s room, they were posing on the wall before I even had a chance to give them any direction! It really was the best bridal party a wedding photographer could ask for!

It was also clear that the bride and groom spent a lot of time and effort thinking about their wedding day details. I loved the personalized robes for the bridesmaids, the handmade seating chart from a friend, and the little inspirational quotes by their wedding cake. And then there were Kelly’s flowers – can you believe that they are fake?!? Her flowers looked SO real, I highly recommend Something Borrowed Blooms if you are looking for something hypoallergenic (or cost effective). And it didn’t stop there, Kelly’s garter was made from her mom’s wedding dress too! Such a special day.
But what I really love is capturing true emotion, the photos that bring back a flood of memories. And their first dance was hands down one of the most beautiful moments between them that I captured all day. The way Kelly and Kevin looked at each other, how she touched his arm, it was all so romantic. Their love was truly easy to capture, and the magic between them was beautiful to witness.
At the end of the night, with a little encouragement from me, everyone filled the lobby with tiny bubbles for a perfect, storybook send-off. It was such a wonderful way to close out the first day of their happily ever after.
Kelly and Kevin, thank you so much for inviting me into your lives so I could be your wedding photographer. I was so happy to be a part of your warm and elegant wedding day.
