Outer Banks Wedding – Allyson & Tim

Congratulations to Allyson and Tim for their Outer Banks wedding at the Sanderling Resort in Duck, NC! This wedding was such fun, and Allyson and Tim were such a laid-back couple, despite a few hiccups we all took them in stride and have so many great memories.

Allyson and Tim’s Outer Banks Wedding

Every wedding has something that goes a little wrong. And Allyson and Tim were absolutely the best at rolling with each hiccup. First, their first look was a little late after Allyson fretted over the perfect shade of lipstick but the delay ended up being okay because the trolley had a little trouble getting where it was supposed to be to pick up the family for the photos! Their venue– Sanderling Resort was also under construction, the threat of rain moved the beach ceremony indoors, problems that would normally stress out even the most chill bride and groom! But not Allyson and Tim! Their happy, laid back attitudes set the tone of the entire day – and nothing was going to spoil the fun on their wedding day!

I loved all the DIY aspects of this Outer Banks wedding. Tim’s mother created the wedding bouquets, boutonnieres, cake, and centerpieces. She was amazingly talented. Allyson’s sisters did her makeup, a friend did her hair, and then another close friend acted as the DJ. This couple certainly was surrounded by talented people. I was just thankful they asked me to be their wedding photographer!

Allyson’s pastor, Kris, made the trip down from Virginia Beach to do their nuptials. I loved how much thought the bride and groom put into who would be a part of their wedding. It makes the day so special when the people helping you to execute your vision are people you know and trust. Even though the ceremony had been moved indoors onto the dance floor, it was still warm and heartfelt.

Aside from being laid-back and easy-going, Allyson and Tim are hilarious! Their wedding day was peppered with lots of jokes and funny references that showcased their amazing sense of humor. Hence the ‘MooreT&A’ hashtag for their wedding.

After the ceremony, we got some gorgeous sunset photos and I got to hear some hilarious, heartfelt toasts. The couple danced all night, taking breaks to catch up with everyone in a fun photo booth by Closed Curtain Photo Booth. Throughout the day, you could feel the tight family bonds and amazing friendships on both sides. The icing on the cake was when Allyson’s sister brought a unicorn head for fun at the reception… and I think almost everyone wore it at some point. The perfect example of how silly the couple is and what a fun group of people there was at the wedding. It’s awesome when a wedding has so many great stories that you can reflect on via the wedding photos for years to come.

The final memorable moment was when a friend dressed in a dinosaur costume caught Allyson’s bouquet. Later I found out the bride’s friend had traveled all the way from Japan to surprise her at the wedding rehearsal, dressed in that same costume! Clearly her friends share her great sense of humor!

Allyson and Tim, I know your amazing attitudes will take you both far in your life together as husband and wife. Thank you for inviting me to be your Outer Banks wedding photographer. Thanks also to my second shooter Rob, who is the best second shooter out there. (As my husband, I might be biased, but he’s my favorite….)
